All Natural Beauty Quick & Easy Series

I will be exploring one all natural item per post that you probably already have in your kitchen that can enhance your beauty.
Today's item: Olive Oil
Excellent as a hair conditioner to moisturize brittle dry hair, rich in fatty acids. Before you wash your hair, warm 2-5 tablespoons(depending on hair length) in the microwave 30 seconds. Apply to your hair from roots to ends and cover with a plastic cap/bag. After at least 10-15 minutes, proceed with your shampoo regimen as usual. Your hair will thank you!

Pottery Barn

Pottery Barn http://www.potterybarn.com/ is one of my favorite home decor catalogs. Although many things are out of my price range(or actually more than I going to pay for that particular item) I love to peruse to catalog & web site for inspiration. The Pottery Barn Stylehouse http://www.potterybarn.com/stylehouse/index.cfm?cm%5Ftype=gnav is a great resource offering: decorating tips, planning your space layout, ideas to transform your walls & a room designer tool.

Eyeliner woes!

I have been trying to incorporate eyeliner into my almost non existent make up routine. I think it lends a polished look and makes the lashes look 50% better without any mascara application(an upcoming post).
I have tried three brands, Mally waterproof pencils(black, brown, teal), Smashbox cream(black, espresso), & Bonjour waterproof pencils(black, aqua, silver) so far.....The Smashbox is among easiest to apply & correct, the Mally is also easy to apply & stays on, but I think I dislike having to sharpen a eyeliner pencil....I love the colors of the Bonjour for the summer and it stays on, but again I dislike the sharpening aspect...
Did I mention I bought the Bare Escentuals Lid Primer, but hardly ever use it which I'm sure would affect staying power also....I am going to get it together one of these days....

Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka

The best thing since sliced bread ever!!! I tried this Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka with Country Time Lemonade...so smooth I just love it. To be honest I initially thought it would be either too sweet or too tea-y; I am a definite bit of a drink snob.
But....I have tried it 50/50 with Country Time > perfect. I have tried it as a martini > perfect. I have tried it on the rocks > refreshing. I have tried it straight chilled > potently pleasing.
Mixed drinks recipe to follow....just run to your local liquor store & get your own bottle to try it out.

Still drinking my green drink daily

I love this juicing stuff! It is healthy and just feels good to do it for myself.
I have been having a green lemonade every afternoon before my dinner. I have used kale, chard, celery, cucumbers, and romaine as the base with a entire lemon and an apple. Sometimes I even add liquid chlorophyll to it!!
The taste is so fresh and clean, it is hard to believe it has the high amount of nutrients in it. According to Raw Food Life Force Energy by Natalia Rose, by juicing fruits & vegetables, we separate the fiber and release critical energy which contains live enzymes, chlorophyll and organic water which foes straight to our bloodstream like an IV.

Skittles Vodka in 7 steps!!!

Ok this just looked like so much fun!! I haven't done it yet but I definitely intend to in the very near future. Infusing vodka with Skittles is a current popular trend and gives wonderful spring colors....I can just see this chilled up in my favorite martini glass!

Juicing

My newest thing is juicing. I recently decided to do a raw juice cleanse. I purchased a Breville juice fountain. I purchased only organic fruits & veggies.
It was so fascinating the amount of juice obtained, the taste of the juices and just how good it felt to drink them. I did fruit juice only in the mornings and green juice and veggies only later in the day.
I have never purchased fresh kale or beets, they are just beautiful veggies!

From the Raw Food Detox Diet, I made the Green Lemonade with celery, kale, apples, & a lemon. It was surprisingly refreshing!

Stay tuned!

It's almost Valentine's Day

I like the printable coupon, 20 questions, certificate, awards, & love note idea for a bit of romance and fun...and I found a great site with a bunch of free downloadable PDF documents with just this and more. http://www.lovingyou.com/content/printables/
If you have been with your SO for awhile or if you are newly attached I highly suggest the Couples Question book, these questions are geared to help you get to know your partner more intimately.

Loreal Double Extend Beauty Tubes #1 Mascara

I love mascara & longer lashes , but hate how mascaras flake off and give raccoon eyes!!! My new #1 mascara is the Loreal Double Extend Beauty Tubes Mascara!!! It extends my lashes and never flashes or rubs off.

However the best part is the ease of removal just apply warm water and the tube slid off with any special removers, smudging or smearing!

Even if you happen to fall asleep with it on, no biggie!

The Best 3 Layer Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting

I love red velvet cake! I have been testing different recipes and Paula's wins (with some modifications)! Paula does it again! Just in time for Valentine's!http://recipes.pauladeen.com/index.php/recipes/view/grandmother_pauls_red_velvet_cake/
Ingredients:
1 teaspoon vanilla 1 cup buttermilk 1 teaspoon salt 2 1/2 cup cake flour 1/2 lb (2 sticks) butter 2 ounce red food coloring 2 tablespoon cocoa 2 cup sugar 2 eggs 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1 tablespoon vinegar
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Beat eggs; add sugar. Mix cocoa and food coloring. Add butter and egg mixture; mix well. Sift together flour and salt. Add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk. Blend in vanilla. In a small bowl, combine soda and vinegar and add to mixture. Pour into three 8-inch round greased and floured pans. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until tests done.
Icing: 1 16-ounce box of confectioner’s sugar 1 stick butter, softened 1 cup melted marshmallows 1 cup shredded coconut 1 cup chopped pecans 1 8-ounce package of cream cheese
Blend cream cheese and butter. Add marshmallows and sugar and blend. Fold in coconut and nuts. Spread between layers and on top and sides of cooled cake.
This cake is moist, tender, delish, AND RED! It's a delightful addition to my recipe collection. Just wash all the dishes right away to avoid everything in your kitchen having a red smear....LOL
P.S. I did not add coconut to the frosting.

Best ever eyelash curler! Shu uemura!

This is the best eyelash curler, I always have problems with the curl most curlers give me or rather the bend most curlers give my lashes. But this one actually curls...and I really don't see what the difference is just by looking at the curler itself. It is definitely worth the money! So give it a try and get ready to bat your lashes!
